Thanks to the latest brouhahah going on at LJ, I have finally broken down and joined insanejournal and got all set up there. If anyone on my flist is a member there, please comment with your username so I can add you, if I haven't already.

Also, are there any other journals I should be joining? I think I'll still use LJ as my primary journal, but will post fic on all journals. I know of greatestjournal, but are there any other big ones? I wouldn't want to miss anybody during what seems to be a rush to flee LJ, at least for the time being.

26K on the BigBoom fic. I might have enough to count for the 75% rough draft deadline on Wednesday, but I want to write and/or finish about six more scenes before then anyway, if I can manage it.

Staying up till five managed the last 1500, so maybe my solution should be to not sleep? Or maybe that's the not-sleep talking, and I should go the fuck to bed. I'm leaning towards the latter, or is that exhaustion talking?

I also had a marathon cleaning session because my roommate's cousin starts her visit here tomorrow morning, and I'm sure as hell not getting up early to do it then. I'm worn out.

Right. Sleep it is, then.

Why did they have to start posting pre-Bennet Claude backstory when I'm about two-thirds of the way through my BigBoom fic? Why, why, why?

Mind you, while it's only the first issue out of four, so far it looks like it's not going to horribly Joss anything I've written or plan to write. Still. If they put in any crazy twists and turns in the next three issues, I'm going to have to go back and rewrite some bits for canon compliance, and that's always a pain in the ass.

On the other hand, the bad guy is *totally* an earlier-generation version of an OC I want to write into a later sequel, so that puts a whole new spin on the story idea I was playing with. That's always cool.

Spoiler-free post! [21 Jul 2007|08:39pm]
I think I've broken my record: just under four hours from page one till the last word.

Will post on the actual book at some later date, when I've gotten my thoughts together.

"I was raised to be charming, not sincere." [15 Jul 2007|01:11am]
Just broke 20k on the BigBoom fic!

::does the dance of victory::

Also, I saw Into the Woods tonight for the first time. I've been looking forward to this ever since I heard that this was the end-of-season musical, and it totally lived up to the anticipation. I have all sorts of delicious thoughts on wolves and princes and happily-ever-afters, but honestly, I kind of want to write something set post-finale, where the Baker and Cinderella raise the Son, and Jack learns how to bake, and Red Riding Hood meets a Wolf disguised as a Prince and is finally wise enough to see the difference.

So I was just sitting here, reading through my Death Valley folder in some weird effort to not go to bed yet, even though I have to get up at six. God, I'd totally forgotten some of the weird-ass things I'd started to write and tossed away in there.

There was the sequel to The Dead Can Dance, which had Jack and medium!Daniel and ghost!Carter and ghost!Teal'c all on Atlantis, and McKay the telekinetic who works through manipulation of electrical energy so he sort of communes with Atlantis, and the Genii put out a hit on him and Elizabeth's all worried about letting him offworld till he talks her down a little, and then he's at some big marketplace with Jack's half-ghost team and sees this tiger-thing in a cage, buys it off the (of course, abusive) owner and then takes it out of the town and it, of course, turns out to be John-the-shapeshifter who was BORN ON EARTH and now is Rodney's devoted bodyguard and stuff.

Thank God I never went anywhere with it. I'm going to hell for even that much. (And that's not getting into the whole CSI-Hogwarts weirdness, which thankfully only made it to half a page before I regained my senses.)

I really should have just gone to bed. At least then I'd be asleep, and not shaking my head in dismay.

Fic: Subtle [11 Jul 2007|10:20pm]
Title: Subtle
Author: Sorrel
Fandom: SG-1
Pairing: Jack/Daniel
Spoilers: Season 7
Rating: R
Summary: Five times Daniel cock-blocks Jack (and Jack doesn't mind).
Notes: Written for the 2007 Jack/Daniel Ficathon. I was writing for [info]lazigyrl, who requested: 1) First time with jealous!Daniel; 2) Happy ending; Optional) "I know, it's been done but I'd love a misunderstanding on Daniel's part leading to jealousy and of course, eventually getting together. A reaction to Jack and another man, preferably during an off world trip, but it could just be within the SGC, especially if set in later seasons. It would be nice to have other team members present, but not the cause of the jealousy." Hope this fits the bill.

Now to crack down on the JD ficathon story, which is due Wednesday and only half-done. Eep.

15,500 words on BigBoom fic, out of a roughly estimated 30k. Well, I'm halfway there, right?

Definitely time for bed.

Okay. So I'm finally breaking down and archiving all of my work on one place, since I seem to be incapable of uploading it to my website. This will be as complete as I can make it using my LJ memories and my own brain, but if there's something that I miss adding here, please, feel free to tell me, and I'll add it.

I just broke 10,000 words on the BigBoom fic. ::does a victory dance:: 10,476 to be exact, plus another 2,000 on the eventual sequel because the scene got into my head and I couldn't get it out.

Oh, yeah. AMA-induced weekend writer's block? Totally gone.

Inspired by the meet-'n-greet over at [info]beadattitude's place.

hi, have you met me? )

There, I think that's enough for one information overload. Now it's your turn, people. Tell me something about yourselves that I might not know, no matter how weird, random, or off-the-wall.

Big Boom wordcount: 7,909 out of 20,000, due 8/1
J/D Ficathon Story: 1 scene out of 6, due 6/11

Guess which one I should be working on right now. And then guess which one I'm actually working on.

God, I'm hopeless.

My one concession to current stuff going on was to edit my interests on my profile page. And to back up my lj, but honestly, that was just common sense. I started to go through and flock all my wincest stuff, then midway through stopped and went back and unlocked everything, because if it gets bad enough that people are trolling through my journal to find a reason to delete me, then I obviously need to go somewhere else anyway.

Big Boom word count: 3,439

I have to be at work at 6:45 tomorrow morning. And the worst part? I asked for that shift. So I have nobody but myself to blame.

Ah, well. That's why naps were invented.

Finally found a copy of "Stupid Thing" by Nickel, after looking around ever since I heard it in the second season of Buffy. Not quite as good as I remembered it, but it's growing on me all over again, so it's all good.

Saw Pirates tonight. It was fucking awesome, the end. My only nitpick was very minor, but spoiler-cutting it anyway )

Big Boom count: 2,853.

I'm going to bed now.

I have matching thumb-sized bruises in the same place on the outside of both thighs. There was a table in my section that was pushed just a little too close to the bar yesterday, and I kept bumping into the corner when walking back and forth with food. Way to go, me.

Heroes people- and I know you're there- I need canon questions answered, if you can. And if you can't, does anyone know of a community or site that might have the answer? It's for my BigBoom story, and I don't have the patience to rewatch all twenty-three episodes to see if I can find the answer.

under the cut )

I think that's it at the moment. Any help anyone can give me would me much appreciated.

People. People. How could I not have heard about this yet? New CW show coming up this fall? Reaper. "A twenty-something slacker finally scores a job as the devil's bounty hunter, collecting the souls of those who haven't fulfilled their part in a deal with Satan." Just... the crossover possibilities... how has nobody told me about this before now? Seriously, you slackers. Falling down on the job.

Also, I need to stop listening to "Cells" by the Servant on repeat. I think my brain is going to fry. But it's so shiny... And I think I've found the first of my songlist for my new writing project, which is...

[info]heroes_bigboom

That's right. Because I'm insane. 20,000 words of Heroes fic by the end of the summer. I can do it, I know I can, I've written longer (Scenes from an Accidental Courtship was 25k) but I'm still insane to do this. However, the ideas are working themselves out, the first couple of pages are written, and my submission thingy is posted. I am locked in, my friends. Strapped in tight to my doom.

God help me.

Main index here.

He had Lian’s height, certainly, and he wore the same worn jeans and smart-ass t-shirts that Lian always did, but the waist-length braid of bright red hair was gone. )
